PCB Design for the Motorsports EV

A behind-the-scenes look at designing a compact telemetry and power distribution board built to survive vibration, heat, and race day troubleshooting.

This was my first PCB design project for the Formula Student team. The goal was to create a compact board that could handle telemetry from sensors, CAN bus data, and motor controller signals while distributing power reliably under harsh racing conditions.

I learned a lot about schematic capture for mixed-signal systems, high-current routing with proper thermal reliefs, and designing for serviceability—labeled test points and modular harnessing made troubleshooting on race day much easier.

Below are a few photos from the design and assembly process. You can add your own images to the public/blog/first-pcb/ folder and reference them here.
